2026 Full-Day Course: Autumn Leaves from the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway
Ride the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway up to the summit for a bird's-eye view of the autumn leaves around Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji. The best viewing season around Komagatake and Lake Ashi usually runs from late October to mid-November. From the summit, a 360-degree panorama spreads out, letting you take in the colorful mountains, Lake Ashi, and, on a clear day, Mt. Fuji. The ropeway runs every 20 minutes, and a round trip costs 2,200 yen for adults and 1,100 yen for elementary school children. In the morning, visit Hakone Shrine on the shore of Lake Ashi, walking along the cedar-lined approach and past the torii gate standing in the lake. In the afternoon, take the ropeway up from Hakone-en to the summit. Since you can reach a grand mountaintop view without hiking, this course is also perfect for introducing young children to autumn leaves for the first time.
