2026 Autumn Leaves at Ryokusuian: A Full-Day Course
This is a day to quietly savor the autumn leaves of a satoyama landscape at Ryokusuian (緑水庵), a nationally registered tangible cultural property old farmhouse in Minoge, Hadano City. Maples color the front of the former Ashikawa family residence, built in 1930 (Showa 5), and the leaves are typically at their best from late November to early December. Admission is free, and you can tour the old-fashioned home with its sunken hearth together with your children. The adjacent Minoge Nature Observation Forest is always open with free admission, and walking through its sawtooth oak and konara oak deciduous forest lets you enjoy a stroll unique to the season, with fallen leaves piling up underfoot. In the morning, encounter Hadano's seasonal vegetables and fruit at Jibasanzu (じばさんず), a large direct-sales market near Hadano Station, then take a bus to Minoge in the afternoon. During the peak season, the area has in the past held a community light-up event (the dates and hours for 2026 have not yet been announced - please check Hadano City's official website before heading out). This is a course for spending a leisurely autumn day in a small village at the foot of the Tanzawa mountains.
