2026 Full-Day Autumn Foliage Course at Kotoku-in (Kamakura Great Buddha) (高徳院(鎌倉大仏))
Spend a day enjoying both the Great Buddha and autumn foliage at Kotoku-in (高徳院), famous for the Kamakura Great Buddha. The best viewing season is typically late November to mid-December. Ginkgo trees on both sides of the approach turn yellow, and maples behind the Great Buddha and along the back of the corridor turn crimson, a combination with the bronze Great Buddha that is uniquely late-autumn Kamakura. Admission is 300 yen for adults, 150 yen for elementary through high school students (free for preschoolers), with an additional 50 yen to enter the interior of the Great Buddha. Opening hours from October to March are 8:00-17:00, and the interior is open 8:00-16:30. In the morning, head from Kamakura Station to Komachi-dori (小町通り); stroll along the street lined with souvenir and food shops, then in the afternoon take the Enoden line to Hase to slowly take in the Great Buddha and the autumn leaves, a course that enjoys Kamakura's classic sights in autumn colors.
