2026 Full-Day Course: Autumn Leaves at Toriihara Lakeside Park
Spend a day enjoying both the lake and the autumn leaves at Toriihara Lakeside Park, which spreads along the north shore of Lake Miyagase. The best viewing season is usually from late October to late November. The enkianthus shrubs covering the hillside turn a brilliant red, and from the lakeside garden you can take in both the Niji-no-Ohashi (Rainbow Bridge) over Lake Miyagase and the autumn colors at once. Inside the park is Toriihara Fureai-no-Yakata (open 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., closed Tuesdays and during the New Year holidays), a direct-sales outlet for local agricultural and forestry products where you can shop for local vegetables and processed goods. A parking lot makes this an easy destination to reach by car. In the morning, stop by a popular bakery factory outlet on the way to Miyagase, then spend the afternoon taking a leisurely autumn-leaf walk by the lake. This course lets families soak up nature together in the crisp autumn air.
