2026 Kashimada Winter Decoration: A Full-Day Course

Centered on the 'Kashimada Winter Decoration,' which fills the traffic plaza in front of JR Nambu Line's Kashimada Station with light, this course is enjoyed from afternoon into the evening in Saiwai Ward, Kawasaki City. It usually runs from late November to early January, and in 2025 the lighting ceremony took place on November 27. In some past years the lights stayed on until January 10 (the 2026 schedule and lighting times have not yet been announced, so please check local announcements or the organizer's information). In the early afternoon, meet about 50 species of animals, including red pandas, at the free-admission Yumemigasaki Animal Park, then take a break at Shin-Kawasaki Square in front of the station before heading to the station plaza as the sun sets. It is a warmly scaled illumination that feels like a true local winter tradition. Winter evenings get cold, so dress warmly before heading out.
