2026 Atsugi Illumination: A Full-Day Course

Spend a day enjoying the Atsugi Illumination, where lights wrap the North Exit Plaza and the South Exit Station Plaza in front of Hon-Atsugi Station. It is typically held from late October through mid-January; last year it ran from October 25, 2025 to January 12, 2026, with lights on from 16:30 to 22:00 (the 2026-27 schedule and lighting hours have not yet been announced, so please check the official website before you go). Viewing is free. In the early afternoon, enjoy the exhibits and planetarium at the Atsugi City Children's Science Museum, a 3-minute walk from the station's East Exit, then get active at Atsugi Central Park before heading to the station area for the evening lighting. Since you can encounter the lights right after stepping out of the station, it is a manageable course even with small children. Autumn and winter evenings turn chilly, so dress warmly before heading out.
