2026 Winter Cherry Blossom Illumination (Komachi-dori & Wakamiya-oji) Full-Day Course
This is a day themed around the 'Winter Cherry Blossom Illumination,' where cherry-pink lights decorate part of Kamakura's Komachi-dori and Wakamiya-oji. It is confirmed to have been held from December 14 to December 27, 2020 (originally planned to run until February 14 the following year, but shortened due to the pandemic). Announcements for subsequent years have not been confirmed, so please check local official information to see whether it will be held in 2026. Even if it is not held, dusk on Komachi-dori is still an enjoyable time to stroll as shop lights turn on. In the early afternoon, visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, then look for Hato Sable cookie souvenirs at Toshimaya Honten on Wakamiya-oji. In the evening, return to Komachi-dori and enjoy the atmosphere of the approach road at dusk while snacking as you walk. Evenings in Kamakura in winter get cold, so be sure to dress warmly before heading out.
