2026 Yokohama Motomachi Illumination: A Full-Day Course

This is a day for enjoying the Motomachi Illumination (元町イルミネーション), where the roadside trees along Yokohama's Motomachi Shopping Street (元町ショッピングストリート) are wrapped in light. It typically runs from early November to early March (last year it ran November 1, 2025 to March 1, 2026); the 2026-27 season's schedule has not yet been announced, so please check the official information. In the early afternoon, head up to the Yamate (山手) hill from America Yama Park (アメリカ山公園), directly connected to Motomachi-Chukagai Station (元町・中華街駅), and take in a sweeping view of the Bay Bridge from Harbor View Park (港の見える丘公園). In the evening, head down to Motomachi (元町) and stroll slowly window-shopping under the lit roadside trees. Viewing is free. Winter evenings get cold, so please dress warmly.
