2026 Yokodai Illumination (Yokodai Chuo Danchi): A Full-Day Course

A community-wide illumination event that wraps the plazas of the Yokodai (洋光台) housing complex in Isogo Ward, Yokohama, in warm light. It typically runs from mid-October to the end of February; last year it ran from October 13, 2025 to February 28, 2026 (the 2026-27 season's schedule has not yet been announced, so please check the official announcement before heading out). The venue is the Central Plaza and the Block 1 park at Yokodai Chuo Danchi (洋光台中央団地). Spend the early afternoon enjoying yourself at Hamagin Kodomo Uchu Kagakukan (はまぎん こども宇宙科学館) in front of Yokodai Station, then head to the housing complex's plaza as evening falls. It's a compact course you can cover entirely on foot from the station, so it's easy to enjoy even with small children. Autumn and winter evenings get cold, so don't forget to dress warmly.
