2026 Shonan Hiratsuka Starlight Festival: A Full-Day Course

A day centered on the Shonan Hiratsuka Starlight Festival, where the main shopping street at Hiratsuka Station's north exit becomes wrapped in light. The venue is the area of station-front shopping streets, including Beniya-cho Machikado Plaza and the arcade, and admission is free. It's typically held from late November to early February each year, and in the 2024-25 season it lit up from November 23, 2024 to February 2, 2025 (we have not been able to confirm the schedule for later seasons from primary sources, so please be sure to check the city's or shopping district's official announcements before you go). In the early afternoon, experience Shonan's nature and starry skies at the free-admission Hiratsuka City Museum, visit Hiratsuka Hachimangu Shrine, then head to the shopping street at dusk. It's a compact itinerary you can cover on foot from the station, so it's reassuring even with young children.
