2026 Chigasaki City Hall Plaza Illumination Full-Day Course

Enjoy winter in Shonan's Chigasaki through the sea, a garden, and illuminations in a single day. The illuminations at Chigasaki City Hall Plaza (茅ヶ崎市役所前広場) are typically lit from early November through mid-February each year (excluding the New Year holiday period), and admission is free. Last time, they ran from November 5, 2025 to February 14, 2026 (the 2026-27 schedule has not yet been announced, so check the official website for the latest information). In the early afternoon, head to Southern Beach Chigasaki (サザンビーチちがさき). Take a classic Shonan-style commemorative photo on the sandy beach with views of Eboshi Rock (えぼし岩), and at the circular Chigasaki Southern C monument (茅ヶ崎サザンC). Next, take a leisurely walk through the Japanese garden at Takasago Ryokuchi (高砂緑地) near Chigasaki Station, once the site of a villa. In the evening, move on to the plaza in front of City Hall to slowly admire the illuminated lights. It gets cold by the winter seaside and in the evening, so be sure to dress warmly.
