2026 Full-Day Course: Starry Skies at Isehara Children's Science Museum (伊勢原市立子ども科学館)
This is a day in Isehara (伊勢原), the town at the foot of Mount Oyama (大山), get active, pay a visit to a shrine, and finish with a planetarium's starry sky. The Isehara Children's Science Museum (伊勢原市立子ども科学館) is next to City Hall, a 10-minute walk from Isehara Station (伊勢原駅). It's open 9:00-17:00 (last admission 16:30), closed on Mondays (except public holidays), the day after a public holiday, the first Wednesday of the month, the New Year holidays, and a special inspection period (usually September and March). Admission is 300 yen for adults and 100 yen for elementary and junior high school students; the planetarium is 500 yen for adults and 200 yen for ages 4 through junior high (a combined ticket is 800 yen for adults, 300 yen for elementary and junior high students). Parking is available. At midday, play freely in the open grounds of Isehara City General Sports Park (伊勢原市総合運動公園), then visit Isehara Daijingu Shrine (伊勢原大神宮), the shrine said to be the origin of the name Isehara. In the afternoon, head to the science museum, explore the wonders of science through the exhibits, then look up at a sky full of stars in the planetarium. It's a stargazing course you can enjoy even on rainy days.
