2026 Full-Day Course: Starry Sky at Hiratsuka City Museum
This is a course where you enjoy both a planetarium and real stargazing in a single day, centered on Hiratsuka City Museum, whose theme is 「Nature and culture of the Sagami River basin」. The museum is open 9:00-17:00 (last entry 16:30), closed Mondays (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday), the last day of each month, and the year-end/New Year period (Dec 29-Jan 3), with a fumigation period around June. Admission is free, and the planetarium is family-friendly at 200 yen for ages 18 and up (free for those 65 and older or with a disability certificate). The 「Star Viewing Gathering」 held at night is free to join, and looking at real stars through a telescope is the highlight of this course. In the afternoon, first enjoy the Fureai Zoo and the spacious lawn at Hiratsuka City General Park, then head to the museum in the evening. The date, time, and how to participate in the Star Viewing Gathering vary by day, so be sure to check the official website before heading out and plan around the event date. Since the nighttime observation is outdoors, don't forget to dress warmly.
