2026 Kanagawa Institute of Technology Atsugi City Children's Science Museum Starry Sky: A Full-Day Course
This is a day for the whole family to enjoy a sky full of stars, unaffected by the weather, right in front of Hon-Atsugi Station. The Kanagawa Institute of Technology Atsugi City Children's Science Museum is on the 7th floor of Atsugi City Plaza, with excellent access just steps from Hon-Atsugi Station. It is open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed during the New Year holidays (December 29 to January 3), and opens from noon on the third Monday of each month. Admission to the exhibition hall is free, and planetarium viewing costs just 200 yen for adults and 50 yen for children (ages 4 through junior high school), a surprisingly family-friendly price. In the afternoon, first move your body and play at Atsugi Chuo Park in front of Atsugi City Hall, then head to the science museum. After touching on the wonders of science in the exhibition hall, finish up by looking at a sky free of city lights inside the planetarium dome. Since the show schedule changes by day, please check the official website before you go. On the way home, it is also recommended to look up at the real night sky and try to find the constellations you learned about in the dome.
