2026 Kanagawa Prefectural Jogashima Park Starry Sky: A Full-Day Course
This is a day to look up at a starry sky spreading over the Pacific Ocean on Jogashima, an island floating off the southernmost tip of the Miura Peninsula. Kanagawa Prefectural Jogashima Park spreads across the east side of the island, and since it is open year-round with no set business hours, you can enjoy it all day through to nighttime stargazing. Admission is free, and parking costs 500 yen a day for regular cars, 100 yen a day for motorcycles, and 1,000 yen a day for large vehicles; restrooms are also available. The south side faces the Pacific Ocean directly. Since there are no city lights at all on the ocean side, on a clear night you can encounter a sky where the stars seem to pour all the way down to the horizon. In the afternoon, first enjoy shopping for Misaki tuna and Miura vegetables at Urari Marche, the direct-sales center at Misaki Port, then cross to the island to visit the sea cave Umanose Domon. After sunset, return to the park and enjoy stargazing as a family on the grassy cape. Nights by the sea are windy and cold, so dress warmly, and do not forget a light, as the ground underfoot is dark.
