2026 Full-Day Course: A Sky Full of Stars at Fujisawa City's Shonandai Cultural Center Kodomo-kan (Cosmic Theater Planetarium)
A short walk from Shonandai Station in Fujisawa City, Shonandai Cultural Center Kodomo-kan is marked by a large globe sphere and offers a family day of enjoying a sky full of stars unaffected by the weather. The Cosmic Theater planetarium inside projects even stars invisible under city lights, filling the entire dome. The facility is open 9:00-17:00 (last admission to the exhibition hall 16:30), closed on Mondays (except public holidays), the day after a public holiday (except weekends and holidays), and during the New Year holidays (Dec 28-Jan 4); in August it is open as usual on Mondays too. Admission to the Cosmic Theater is 500 yen for adults and 200 yen for children (elementary and junior high school students); the exhibition hall costs 300 yen for adults (high school age and up), 100 yen for children, and is free for preschoolers accompanied by an adult, family-friendly pricing. In the daytime, get plenty of exercise on the roller slide and lawn at Hikichi River Waterside Park, then take a break at Shonandai Park across from Kodomo-kan before heading to the Cosmic Theater in time for the afternoon showing. Since the screening schedule varies by day, please check the official website before you go.
