2026 Full-Day Course: Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center Science Club Starry Sky Classroom
This is a day to enjoy the Starry Sky Classroom, viewing real stars together with expert staff, at Kanagawa Prefectural Youth Center in Momijigaoka, within walking distance of Sakuragicho Station in Yokohama. The Starry Sky Classroom is a stargazing event held 16 times a year by the Science Club, mainly on Saturday evenings (with some on Friday, Sunday, and Wednesday), and participation is free. The start time is set between 17:30 and 19:00 depending on the session, ending between 19:00 and 20:30. Even under city-center skies, the moon's craters and the planets are clearly visible through a telescope. During the day, first meet the animals at the free-admission Nogeyama Zoo, then in the evening take a break at Kamonyama Park, adjacent to the Youth Center, and enjoy the view of the Minato Mirai skyline. Once the sun sets, it is time for stargazing at the Starry Sky Classroom. Be sure to check the official website before you go for the dates held, each session's start time, and how to apply. It gets dark underfoot at night, so do not forget comfortable walking shoes and a jacket.
