2026 One-Day Course: A Day at Hayama Town Library
A relaxed, quintessentially Hayama (葉山) course that lets you enjoy the sea and books in a single day. In the morning, head to Morito Beach (森戸海岸), where the shallow water and gentle waves make it safe even for small children to play at the water's edge. On clear days you can take in views all the way to Mt. Fuji, the red torii gate on Nashima Island (名島), and Hayama Lighthouse (葉山灯台). The neighboring Morito Shrine (森戸神社) is a historic shrine said to be connected to Minamoto no Yoritomo (源頼朝), and the view from the beach behind it is one of the sights that best represents Hayama. In the afternoon, head to Hayama Town Library (葉山町立図書館) in the same Horiuchi (堀内) district. It's free to use and open from 9:00 to 18:00. After playing at the sea, spend the day browsing the shelves together as a family, as if joining in the everyday life of this seaside town. The library is closed on Mondays (open on public holidays, with a substitute closure on the following weekday), so please check the opening days before you go.
