2026: A Full-Day Course of Fruit Picking at Saito-en (西藤園)
Spend a day enjoying autumn mikan picking at Saito-en (西藤園), an orchard in the Hinata (日向) district of Isehara City. Hinata is a rural mountain village spreading at the foot of Mount Oyama (大山), with mikan orchards continuing along the mountainside slopes, one of Kanagawa's leading mikan-picking areas. Mikan picking at Saito-en (西藤園) usually takes place from mid-October to early December (please contact the orchard directly for details such as fees before visiting). The same Hinata district is also home to Hinata Yakushi (Hojo-bo) (日向薬師(宝城坊)), an ancient temple said to have been founded in the Asuka period; combine it with mikan picking to fully savor a day of autumn in Hinata. In the morning, pay your respects at the historic thatched-roof main hall, and in the afternoon, pick mikan in the orange-tinted orchards. It's a family autumn day wrapped in the air and harvest of the countryside.
