2026 Full-Day Course: Fruit Picking at Suzuki-en (鈴木園)
This is a day for enjoying freshly picked pears and grapes at Suzuki-en (鈴木園), a pick-your-own orchard in Serizawa in the northern part of Chigasaki City. Admission is free, with a simple pricing system where you only pay by weight for what you harvest. For 2026, pears and grapes are officially announced to start on August 19 (chestnut picking starts September 5). Pears are priced at 800 yen/kg for Kosui, 700 yen/kg for Hosui, and 700 yen/kg for Kikusui; grapes are 1,800 yen/kg for Fujiminori and 1,600 yen/kg for Beniizu (Shine Muscat at 2,300 yen/kg is sold at the farm stand only, not for picking). As the season progresses, the offerings shift to chestnuts (Kunimi, 1,200 yen/kg), persimmons (Jiro, 600 yen/kg), and kiwifruit (Hayward, 550 yen/kg), typically continuing through late December. Parking is available. Just nearby is the free-admission Kanagawa Prefectural Chigasaki Satoyama Park, where you can play to your heart's content on the long roller slide and large trampoline in the morning before heading to the orchard, a way of spending the day unique to this area. It's a family day of enjoying the harvest in the satoyama countryside of Shonan.
