2026 One-Day Course: A Cool Stroll at Hamagin Kids Space Science Center
This is a day exploring indoor spots in Isogo Ward, Yokohama (横浜市磯子区), that are a great ally on hot days, all within easy walking distance of the station. The main attraction, the Hamagin Kids Space Science Center (はまぎん こども宇宙科学館), is a hands-on science museum whose entire building is designed to look like a giant spaceship. Inside the air-conditioned building, you can spend the hottest part of the afternoon in comfort. Admission is 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and the planetarium, with its 23-meter-diameter dome showing a starry sky, is 600 yen for adults and 300 yen for elementary and junior high school students. It is open from 9:30 to 17:00 (last admission 16:00), and closed on the first and third Tuesdays of the month and during the New Year holidays. In the morning, let the kids run around at the Kodomo Log House (こどもログハウス) in Yokodai Station Front Park (洋光台駅前公園), then spend the afternoon with the space exhibits and planetarium. With global warming keeping September and October hot these days, why not spend a day staying cool indoors while immersing yourself in space?
