2026 Full-Day Cool Stroll Course: Shiokawa Falls

This is a day to enjoy the cool air beside Shiokawa Falls, a famous waterfall in Aikawa Town. Shiokawa Falls is about 4 meters wide with a drop of about 15 meters, and is one of the Ten Scenic Views of Aikawa. A paved path lets you reach close to the base of the falls relatively easily, and the area around the spray stays wrapped in cool, refreshing air, not only in midsummer but even in September and October when the heat lingers. Long known as a waterfall believed to have miraculous power for rain-calling prayers, it is also a historic site that served as a training ground for Hasuge Shugendo practitioners. Viewing is free, and there is a parking lot. In the morning, stop by the popular local bakery, the direct-sale shop at Ogino Pan's head office factory, and Aikawa Prefectural Park spreading at the foot of Miyagase Dam, before fully enjoying the coolness of the falls during the hot afternoon hours.
