2026 Hakone Marsh Botanical Garden (箱根湿生花園) Cool Stroll: A Full-Day Course
Spend a day enjoying the cool, watery freshness of the marsh at the Hakone Marsh Botanical Garden (箱根湿生花園) in Sengokuhara (仙石原), Hakone (箱根). The garden gathers plants that grow in wet environments, including marshes, rivers, and lakes, with boardwalks laid throughout the grounds, making it a place where the breeze crossing the water feels cool and pleasant. Sengokuhara, at a higher elevation, is cooler than the lowlands, so even in September and October, when the warming climate keeps the heat going, you can walk through the clear highland air. The garden is open from mid-March through November 30 (closed for winter from December through mid-March), from 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry 16:30), with no closing days during the season. Admission is 700 yen for adults and 400 yen for elementary school students. This course visits the neighboring Sengokuhara Pampas Grass Field (仙石原すすき草原) from Hakone-Yumoto Station (箱根湯本駅) in the morning, then spends the hot afternoon hours leisurely on the boardwalks by the water.
