2026 Matano Bettei Garden (俣野別邸庭園) Full-Day Course

A day to slowly savor both the garden and the residence at Matano Bettei Garden (俣野別邸庭園), on a hill in Yokohama's Totsuka Ward. The garden itself is free to enter, open 9:00-17:00 (until 18:30 in July and August). Visiting inside the main residence costs 400 yen (350 yen for groups of 10 or more and for those 65 and over; free for preschoolers), with the building open 9:30-16:30 (until 18:00 in July and August). Closed on the third Thursday of each month (the following day if that's a holiday) and over the New Year holidays (Dec 29-Jan 3). Making the most of its hilly terrain, the grounds change character between the outer and inner gardens, and you can stroll while enjoying seasonal flowers and the changing colors of the trees. In the morning, start from Fujisawa Station (藤沢駅) and play a while at the neighboring Matano Park (俣野公園). In the afternoon, move on to the residence's garden for a quiet time exploring the hillside paths and the main residence. It's a hidden-gem garden walk that's far more impressive than you'd expect from a free admission spot.
