2026 Full-Day Garden Stroll Course: Shinshuen (瀋秀園) at Daishi Park (大師公園)
Right next to Kawasaki Daishi, inside Daishi Park (大師公園), is the Chinese garden Shinshuen (瀋秀園) - a day to walk through a foreign-feeling garden without leaving Japan. Shinshuen was built to commemorate the sister-city partnership between Kawasaki City (川崎市) and Shenyang (瀋陽市) in China, and glazed-tile pavilions dot the edges of its pond. Admission is free, and the garden is open 9:00-16:00 (closed Mondays, or the following Tuesday on a public holiday, and closed December 29-31). In the morning, visit Kawasaki Daishi to pay your respects, then enjoy the famous kuzumochi (久寿餅) and the tonton-ame (とんとこ飴) candy-making performance on Nakamise Shopping Street (仲見世通り) before heading to Shinshuen in the afternoon. The moment the scenery transforms as you pass through the gate is an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike.
