2026 Full-Day Course: Garden Stroll at the Yamaguchi Hoshun Memorial Museum
Spend a day quietly savoring the home and garden of a Japanese-style painter at the Yamaguchi Hoshun Memorial Museum (山口蓬春記念館), standing on high ground in Isshiki, Hayama. It is open 10:00-16:30 (last admission 16:00), closed Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a holiday). Admission is 600 yen for general visitors and free for high school students and younger, making it easy to drop by even with children. The space, where the painter's former studio and residence merge with a meticulously maintained garden, feels less like a museum and more like visiting the painter's own home. In the morning, walk the sands of Isshiki Beach and the Japanese garden at Hayama Shiosai Park; in the afternoon, take your time at the memorial museum. It is a course for enjoying the sea and greenery of Hayama over a full day.
