2026 Tokei-ji Temple (東慶寺) Garden Stroll: A Full Day Course

Spend a day taking in the quiet of Tokei-ji Temple (東慶寺), known as the temple of flowers, in Kita-Kamakura. Tokei-ji does not charge an admission fee; anyone may enter the grounds, based on the idea that visitors simply pay their respects to the principal image and make an offering. Visiting hours are 9:00-16:00 (the treasure hall and shop are closed on the first and third Tuesdays). Pass through the mountain gate atop the stone steps, and seasonal flowers planted along the garden path calm the mind with every step. In the morning, walk through traces of the Kamakura Gozan (鎌倉五山) at nearby Jochi-ji Temple (浄智寺), also in Kita-Kamakura, then head to Tokei-ji in the afternoon after lunch.
