2026 Full-Day Old Farmhouse Walk Course: Folklore Museum (Former Wada Family Residence / Former Mitsuhashi Family Residence)
A day of visiting old farmhouses, a temple, and a park in the satoyama (rural woodland) area of northern Chigasaki City. The day finishes at the Chigasaki City Folklore Museum (茅ヶ崎市民俗資料館), adjoining Jokenji Temple (浄見寺). At this relocated and preserved old farmhouse site, the Former Wada Family Residence (旧和田家住宅) and Former Mitsuhashi Family Residence (旧三橋家住宅), you can get in touch with old everyday tools and farming implements. Open 9:00-16:00, admission is free (closed on Mondays; if that is a holiday, closed the following weekday instead; also closed 12/27-1/4 for the New Year holidays). Parking is available. In the morning, enjoy the long roller slides and grassy hill at the Prefectural Chigasaki Satoyama Park (県立茅ケ崎里山公園), then in the afternoon visit Jokenji Temple, associated with Oka Echizen-no-kami, before heading to the museum. A course for encountering a side of Chigasaki's satoyama landscape quite different from the image of Shonan's beaches.
