2026 Nojima Park (野島公園) & Old Ito Hirobumi Kanazawa Villa (旧伊藤博文金沢別邸) Garden Walk: A Full-Day Course

A day spent enjoying the atmosphere of a seaside villa at the Old Ito Hirobumi Kanazawa Villa (旧伊藤博文金沢別邸) in Nojima Park (野島公園), Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama (横浜市金沢区). The thatched-roof wooden house, surrounded by a pine grove, was restored to its original appearance in 2009 (Heisei 21); admission is free. The view of the sea beyond the garden from the tatami room is the very picture of Meiji-era Kanazawa as a resort town. It is open 9:30-16:30 (9:30-17:30 in April and May), and closed on the first and third Mondays (open if that Monday is a public holiday, closed the following weekday instead). In the morning, stroll the sandy beach at neighboring Umi no Koen (海の公園, ‘Sea Park’), then in the afternoon take the Seaside Line (シーサイドライン) one stop to Nojima Park and take your time exploring the villa and garden. For train-loving children, the view from the Seaside Line's windows as it runs above the sea is one of the fun parts of the day.
