2026 Full-Day Garden Walk at the Kamakura City Kawakita Film Memorial Museum (鎌倉市川喜多映画記念館)
This is a day of experiencing film and Kamakura culture at the Kamakura City Kawakita Film Memorial Museum (鎌倉市川喜多映画記念館), set among the greenery of Yukinoshita (雪ノ下) in Kamakura (鎌倉). The museum stands on the former residence of Nagamasa Kawakita (川喜多長政) and his wife Kashiko (かしこ), who dedicated themselves to the development of film, and its charm lies in the Japanese-style building and garden surrounded by trees. It feels wonderfully quiet, even though it's just steps from the bustling Komachi-dori (小町通り). Open 9:00-17:00 (last admission 16:30), closed Mondays (open on public holidays with the following weekday closed instead). Admission is 300 yen for adults and 150 yen for children for regular exhibits (500 yen for adults and 250 yen for children for special exhibits). In the morning, wander along Komachi-dori (小町通り) from Kamakura Station (鎌倉駅), enjoying street food and souvenir shopping, then spend the afternoon savoring the exhibits and atmosphere at the museum.
