2026 Full-Day Garden Walk at the Kamakura City Kaburaki Kiyokata Memorial Museum of Art (鎌倉市鏑木清方記念美術館)
This is a day exploring the world of Kaburaki Kiyokata (鏑木清方), the master of bijin-ga (paintings of beautiful women), at the Kamakura City Kaburaki Kiyokata Memorial Museum of Art (鎌倉市鏑木清方記念美術館), tucked down an alley in Yukinoshita (雪ノ下), Kamakura (鎌倉). The museum stands on the site of Kiyokata's former residence, where he spent his later years, and once you pass through the gate, the bustle of Komachi-dori (小町通り) gives way to an almost unbelievably quiet air. Open 9:00-17:00 (last admission 16:30), closed Mondays (open on public holidays with the following weekday closed instead). Admission is 300 yen for adults and 150 yen for elementary/junior-high students for feature exhibitions, and 450 yen for adults and 220 yen for elementary/junior-high students for special exhibitions. In the morning, enjoy strolling Komachi-dori (小町通り) and visiting the ancient temple Myohon-ji (妙本寺) in Higayatsu (比企谷); in the afternoon, take your time savoring the paintings and the building's atmosphere at the museum. It's a quintessentially Kamakura course that lets you enjoy both bustle and quiet in a single day.
