2026 YOKOSUKA Naval Port Cruise: A Full-Day Course
This is a day for the whole family to enjoy the port town of Yokosuka, centered on the YOKOSUKA Naval Port Cruise (YOKOSUKA軍港めぐり), the only cruise in Japan where you can see Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and US Navy ships up close from the water. The cruise runs every day (even in rain), with departures at 10:00 (weekends and holidays only), 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, and 15:00, and takes about 45 minutes. Fares vary by sailing date: adults 2,000-2,500 yen, elementary school students 1,000-1,250 yen (Fare A 2,500 yen / Fare B 2,200 yen / Fare C 2,000 yen, with elementary school students at half price each; revised February 1, 2026). In the early afternoon, view the memorial ship Mikasa (三笠), one of the Three Great Memorial Ships of the World, at Mikasa Park, then eat your way along Dobuita Street (どぶ板通り), a shopping street with an American flavor. Take the final 15:00 cruise for a tour of the port, and after sunset enjoy the evening and night views at the Shioiri (汐入) waterfront, where the lights of the ships and the opposite shore reflect on the water. The autumn sea breeze can be chilly, so don't forget a jacket. Hold your child's hand and stick to well-lit paths when walking at night.
