2026 Verny Park Night View: A Full-Day Course
This is a day for the whole family to enjoy a night view unique to a naval port city at Verny Park (ヴェルニー公園), a French-style garden facing Yokosuka Port. The park is open 24 hours and free to enter (parking is paid - 10 spaces for regular cars, 6 for large buses). Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and US Navy ships are moored right in front of the seaside boardwalk, and after sunset, the lights of the ships and the lights across the water reflect on the sea's surface, creating a view that's distinctly Yokosuka. In the early afternoon, shop and take a snack break at the adjacent commercial facility COASKA Bayside Stores (コースカベイサイドストアーズ) (shopping 10:00-20:00, dining 11:00-21:00). In the evening, move to the park, and if it's rose season, enjoy the fragrance of the flower beds while waiting for the transition from dusk to night view - that's the highlight. It gets cold by the sea at night, so dress warmly. There are restrooms in the park, and it's within walking distance of Shioiri Station and Yokosuka Station, so it's reassuring for families.
