2027 Iwaki City Takaku Community Center Starlit Full-Day Course
This day centers on the 'Winter Star Watching (Continuous Sky Observation)' event held at Iwaki City Takaku Community Center in Taira Shimotaku, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture. Hosted by the Iwaki Astronomical Society and co-hosted by the Iwaki City Environmental Planning Division, participants observe planets, nebulae, star clusters and more through telescopes. Free of charge, no advance registration required — just come directly to the venue on the day. Open to elementary school age and up (elementary and junior high school students must be accompanied by a guardian). It was previously held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 17:30 to 20:30 (reception at 17:30, observation starting at 18:00), and is typically held in winter (around January) each year. Astronomical photographs taken by Iwaki Astronomical Society members are also displayed at the venue. Since the schedule varies by year, please check the latest information on the Iwaki City tourism website before heading out. Kurashi no Denshogo (暮らしの伝承郷) (Shimoyada, Kashima-machi, Iwaki City, inside Fukushima Prefectural Iwaki Park), which you can visit during the day, is open 9:00-16:30 from October to March, closed on Tuesdays (or the following weekday if a holiday) and from December 29 to January 1, with admission of 340 yen for adults, 220 yen for high school/university students, and 170 yen for elementary/junior high school students, with parking for 40 cars.
