2027 Toba Observation Deck Ama no Terrace Starry Sky: A Full-Day Course
Toba Observation Deck Ama no Terrace (鳥羽展望台 海女のテラス) in Kuzaki-cho, Toba City, Mie Prefecture, is not normally open at night, but every year on New Year's Day (January 1) only, it opens early in the morning, allowing visitors to view everything from the starry sky to the year's first sunrise (according to the facility's official website). Most recently, on New Year's Day 2026, the entrance gate opened at 2:00, business hours were 6:00-16:00 (last order 15:00), and sunrise was around 6:55. The 2027 New Year's Day business hours are typically announced around December, so please be sure to check the official website (toba-tenboudai.co.jp) before visiting. Parking is free with 250 spaces, and it typically fills up before sunrise every year. Ise Jingu is open for worship all day from New Year's Day through January 4 (according to the Ise Jingu official website), so you can combine it with a pre-dawn New Year's visit. However, traffic restrictions are in effect in the surrounding area until late January, so we recommend checking traffic restriction information in advance.
