2026 Unzen, Obama Onsen and Suwanoike Pond Starry Sky One-Day Course

The Unzen Suwanoike Visitor Center (雲仙諏訪の池ビジターセンター) in Obama-cho, Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture holds a stargazing class every Saturday from 19:30 to 21:00. You can observe seasonal constellations and celestial objects with a large 250mm-aperture refracting telescope, said to be the second largest in Kyushu. Capacity is 20 people, reservation required (minimum of 2 participants), and the participation fee is 100 yen for elementary school age and above. The facility is open from 9:00 to 17:00 and closed on Wednesdays. On the way, it is recommended to stop by Obama Onsens famous Hot Foot 105 foot bath (足湯 ほっとふっと105) and take a break while watching the sunset over Tachibana Bay.
