2026 Fukui City Natural History Museum Rooftop Observatory Stargazing: A Full-Day Course
This is a day devoted to enjoying a free stargazing event at the rooftop observatory of the Fukui City Natural History Museum in Asuwakami-cho, Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture. The observatory holds stargazing events several times a year (past examples include Jupiter and the lunar X, Venus and Jupiter, Tanabata, the Perseid meteor shower, the mid-autumn harvest moon, the 'later moon' and Saturn, the Geminid meteor shower, and supermoons). Admission is free and no reservation is required. On rainy or cloudy days, an alternative indoor program is held instead. Since the dates and start/end times vary by session, please check the official website for the latest schedule. During the day, we recommend visiting Yokokan Garden, a scenic spot associated with the Fukui domain lords (open 9:00-19:00 or 9:00-17:00, admission 220 yen), and Fukui Castle Ruins Park (free), which has a restored castle gate, before heading to the observatory.
