2026 Full-Day Starry Sky Course at Ichinohe Town Public Observatory
A day to enjoy the starry sky at the Ichinohe Town Public Observatory (一戸町観光天文台) in Ninohe District, Ichinohe, Iwate Prefecture. Located on the Takamori Highland (高森高原) at an elevation of 762 meters, it's introduced on the official website as an observatory boasting one of Japan's finest starry skies. On public-viewing days, it's open from 18:00 to 21:00, and the planetarium includes a live commentary on 'tonight's starry sky.' Admission is 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children (elementary school age and under). Public-viewing days are limited to 'Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays that are followed by another holiday the next day.' This date (November 22) qualifies, as the following day is the public holiday Labor Thanksgiving Day, but since the official calendar of viewing days is not posted on the website, please call the Ichinohe Town Tourism Association (0195-33-1211) to confirm before your visit. Parking is available for a few private cars.
