2026 Full-Day Starry Sky Course: Sasebo's Kujukushima and Hoshi Kirari
The Sasebo City Youth Science Center Hoshi Kirari (佐世保市少年科学館「星きらり」) plans to hold nighttime stargazing sessions 11 times during fiscal year 2026 (Reiwa 8). Advance reservation is required (by phone at 0956-23-1517 or via the dedicated online form, capacity about 50 people), and each session lasts about 90 minutes, including an astronomy talk, telescope observation, and starry-sky commentary. Fees are 320 yen for high school students and older, 150 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and free for preschoolers. In case of rain, the session switches to a planetarium presentation, and anyone under high school age must be accompanied by a guardian. Since sessions are held on limited dates, if you plan to attend, be sure to check the schedule on the official website and make a reservation. During the day, the course visits Sasebo's signature spots, including Sasebo Gobangai (させぼ五番街), the Kujukushima Aquarium Umikirara (九十九島水族館「海きらら」), and the Yumiharidake Observatory (弓張岳展望台).
