2026 Kirara Murone-san Observatory Starry Sky One-Day Course

A day to enjoy the starry sky at the Kirara Murone-san Observatory (きらら室根山天文台) atop Mt. Murone (室根山, elevation 895.4m) in Murone-cho, Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture. Equipped with a 50cm reflecting telescope and a 15cm solar telescope, the observatory holds evening sessions on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 19:30 to 21:30 (19:00 to 21:30 from September to November). Closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and during the off-season (December to mid-April). Admission is 330 yen for high school students and above, 160 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and free for young children. Travel from Michi-no-Eki Murone at the foot of the mountain to the summit requires a car.
