2026 Shizukuishi Ginga Ropeway Starry Sky Full-Day Course

This is a day to enjoy stargazing on the Shizukuishi Ginga Ropeway (雫石銀河ロープウェー) at Shizukuishi Prince Hotel (雫石プリンスホテル) in Takakura Onsen (高倉温泉), Shizukuishi Town, Iwate District, Iwate Prefecture. The ropeway takes you up to an elevation of 730m, where a 'star navigator' provides commentary on the night sky. It operates from April 18 to November 3, 2026, with the ascent running 19:30-20:00 from August to November (about 7 minutes one way). Prices are 2,200 yen for general admission and 1,500 yen for elementary school students (tax included); capacity is 50 people per departure, and once full, guests are directed to the next departure. On cloudy days, the experience is switched to a screening on a 300-inch screen instead. The adjacent Takakura Onsen offers day-trip bathing for 620 yen for adults and 310 yen for children. Access is about 20km from the Morioka IC on the Tohoku Expressway, or about a 20-minute ride on the shuttle bus for hotel guests only from JR Shizukuishi Station.
