2026 A Full Day Under the Stars at Akahage-yama Observatory
This is a day to enjoy the starry sky at the Akahage-yama Observatory (赤ハゲ山展望台) on Chiburi Island, Chibu Village, Oki District, Shimane Prefecture. This is a location where the Ministry of the Environment's Chugoku-Shikoku Regional Environment Office has previously held Daisen-Oki National Park Stargazing Sessions, though we have not been able to confirm information about regularly scheduled sessions. We also have not been able to confirm official information about the observatory's opening hours or whether nighttime entry is permitted, so please check with the Chibu Village Office or the Chugoku-Shikoku Regional Environment Office before visiting. During the day, you can also stop by Sekiheki Observation Deck (赤壁展望台) (free admission), about a 20-minute drive away. To reach Chiburi Island, you need to take a ferry from the mainland.
