2027 Kyoto University Okayama Observatory Starry Sky: A Full-Day Course
Kyoto University Okayama Observatory, located in Kamogata-cho, Asakuchi City, Okayama Prefecture, is an observatory equipped with the “Seimei Telescope,” East Asia's largest 3.8m new-technology telescope. Free viewing from the dome's outer corridor is available daily from 9:00 to 16:30, except around New Year, during maintenance periods, and in bad weather. At night, the adjacent Okayama Astronomical Museum hosts the “Summer Observation Session” every year in August, requiring advance phone registration on a first-come, first-served basis (in 2026, registration opened on July 18, with up to 4 people per application). Museum admission is 100 yen for high school students and up, and 50 yen for elementary/junior high school students (planetarium viewing is a separate fee). Please be sure to check the latest information on the dates, participation fees, and application method for the Summer Observation Session on the Okayama Astronomical Museum's official website or by phone (0865-44-2465) before applying.
