Search for crabs and small fish in tide pools. Perfect rocky shores for your first tide-pool adventure
About this spot
A natural park spanning a rocky headland jutting into Sagami Bay. The jagged rock reefs carved by waves and the tide pools create a natural playground where children can become absorbed in searching for crabs, small fish, and hermit crabs. From "Sunset Hill," you can see all the way to Mt. Fuji and the Izu Peninsula—this scenic spot has also served as a filming location for movies and dramas.
Tips
The rocks are slippery, so wear marine shoes or shoes with good traction. Check tide tables to find low tide times before visiting—more tide pools will be exposed and tide-pool exploration will be more fun.
Best time to visit
Allow 1 hour; the hour before and after low tide is best for tide-pool exploration
