A popular spot where you can tour the factory of Yamasa, a long-established soy sauce maker founded in the Edo period, for free. After a video about how soy sauce is made and a tour of the factory, you get a small table-top soy sauce bottle as a souvenir, which is a nice touch. The shop's soy sauce soft-serve ice cream has a fragrant sweetness that's popular with kids too.
Tips
The factory tour requires advance reservation through the official website. It takes about 50 minutes, so choosing a reservation slot with plenty of time before your return train is reassuring.
