A ropeway connecting the Mt. Onna Station at the base of Mt. Onna's summit to Tsutsuji-ga-oka in approximately 6 minutes. The exhilarating aerial journey offers sweeping views of the Kanto Plain and Lake Kasumigaura through the large gondola windows, drawing excited gasps even on the descent. When combined with the cable car, you can make a complete circuit of Mt. Tsukuba, and the ability to adjust your itinerary based on family fitness levels is a welcome feature for families with children.
Tips
From Tsutsuji-ga-oka, you can take a shuttle bus heading toward Tsukuba Shrine Entrance to return to the parking lot. Confirm the bus schedule before boarding.
Best time to visit
Ride time is approximately 6 minutes. Descending by 3 PM ensures a safe return.
