Leisurely Stroll Through Water Village Charm and the Iris Garden by the River
About this spot
A symbol of Suigo Itako with approximately 500 varieties and one million plants of irises (Japanese water irises) planted along the Maegawa River. During the typical May-June blooming season, the iris festival draws crowds with ro-fune boat tours and nostalgic bride-boat scenes that evoke a sense of travel. Even outside the blooming season, the riverside walking paths are pleasant for strolling, and free admission is an added bonus.
Tips
The grounds are flat and easy to walk with strollers or wheelchairs. During the festival period, the ro-fune boat tours are popular, so arrange tickets early in the day.
Best time to visit
