Just before the summit of Iroha-zaka, take a scenic 3-minute aerial ropeway ride from Akechi Plateau. Standing at the 1,373-meter-high observation deck, you'll be greeted with Oku-Nikko's finest panorama: Kegon Falls, Lake Chuzenji, and Mount Nantai spread before you like a single painting. The vista of dense forest through the gondola windows is breathtaking, and children who love rides will be thrilled without question.
Tips
The Second Iroha-zaka is a one-way uphill route. The return ropeway tends to get crowded in the afternoon, so riding early in the morning ensures a smooth experience. Parking is free.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 40 minutes. During peak autumn foliage season, arrive before 9 a.m. for peace of mind.
