A 7-minute aerial stroll in the world's largest-class gondola, enjoying alpine views and flower garden walks
About this spot
From the base station, reachable on foot from Echigo-Yuzawa Station, ride the world's largest-class gondola to the highlands in one go. During your 7-minute aerial journey, the hot spring town and the Uono River valley spread below, while the Echigo mountain range stretches before you. The mountaintop is developed as "Alp-no-Sato," a site where alpine flora blooms in summer, with scenic walking trails through the rock garden and viewing terraces to stroll at leisure. In the cooler mountain air, simply gazing at the views together makes the start of your trip feel extraordinary.
Tips
The base station is about a 10-minute walk from the west exit of Echigo-Yuzawa Station, making it easily accessible by train. Bring an extra layer, as temperatures are noticeably cooler at the summit. The ropeway may close due to strong winds or bad weather, so check operating conditions before you go.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes total. Early morning offers the clearest air and most stable views.
