About this spot
A free-entry white observation tower shaped like the old beacon lights that once guided ship captains. From the observation deck, you can see Toyama Harbor and Iwase's black-tiled roofscape spread below you. On clear days, the Tateyama Mountains' ridgeline rises beyond Toyama Bay. Tracing the Old Hokuriku Highway you've walked from above, you can understand how this town developed alongside the port. A fitting finale to your street walk—a rewarding panoramic view.
Tips
Admission is free. Note that closing hours are early, so plan to arrive with time to spare in the afternoon. The tower involves climbing stairs, so wear comfortable walking shoes. After visiting, return to Toyama Station via the Portram from Iwase-hama Station or Keirin-jo-mae Station.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. On clear afternoons with crisp air, the Tateyama Mountains stand out distinctly.
